Lead poisoning is entirely preventable.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 310,000 United States children aged 1 - 5 years have blood lead levels greater than 10 micrograms of lead per deciliter of blood, the level at which CDC recommends public health actions be initiated. The only way to determine exposure from lead is to receive a blood lead test. There is no safe level of lead in the blood.
