Self Advocacy
Self Advocacy at The Arc
Self-Advocacy Training and Support teaches adults with disabilities the skills they need to speak out for themselves and make good choices. New modules include: Job Smart 1 & 2, Money Smart 1 & 2, Fitting In and Tools for Change. Trainings are offerred in small groups of adults with disabilities.
We are on the cutting edge in the state of Ohio by offering the first peer to peer training series: "Rights and Responsibilities." This series resulted in a copyrighted training manual that is distributed only to professionals and self-advocates that complete the intensive training course. We believe that everyone has a right to know their rights and responsibilities. We ensure that individuals with disabilities are not excluded. The Arc Hamilton County has provided training workshops to the Hamilton County, Butler and Clermont DD, Cincinnati Public Schools, and Northwest Schools. Topics include Anger Management, Self Esteem, Self Advocacy, and Leadership Development.
The Arc Hamilton County also provides Teen Enrichment Series in various locations. During this series, teenagers learn anger management skills, work on Self confidence and self Esteem and start talking about dating and making friends.
The Teen programs are offered in various schools around the greater Cincinnati Area. If you are interested in learning about the teen program or having it conducted in your school, please call Ann at 513-821-2113 or email Ann.
